Removing a stain from your canvas

The first reactions

For liquids , blot without rubbing with a clean, dry cloth. For oil or greasy liquid stains, use an absorbent (cornstarch for example) then scrape (with a paint scraper or the back of a knife for example).

Prepare your cleaner by mixing warm water and mild soap (black soap for example), rub your canvas with this mixture applied with a clean cloth.

Rinse with water and let the canvas air dry before storing it or closing your parasol, for example.

Wash the canopy of your parasol

The gentlest option: hand washing

• Soak the fabric in 150ml of mild soap per liter of lukewarm water.
• Scrub with a sponge or a soft brush.
• Rinse thoroughly, then allow the fabric to air dry.

You can also (except for polyester fabrics) prepare a bleach solution (1L of water, 150ml of mild soap, 5cl of bleach) in a suitable spray bottle. Spray the entire surface (a whole panel or the entire fabric/cover, never just on a specific spot), wait 10 minutes, and clean with a sponge (the entire surface). Then rinse thoroughly with water and let it air dry.

Another option: machine wash your canvas

• Remove the cover
• Close the zippers
• Wash at 30° on a delicate cycle with a normal amount of detergent.

If mold appears, add 5cl of bleach (start the machine immediately to dilute it) - except on our polyester fabrics. Let the fabric air dry.

Sew the canopy of your parasol

If your canvas has a tear, you should secure the thread to prevent the tear from spreading . To repair it, you will need a standard sewing needle and synthetic thread in the same color as your canvas, ideally UV-treated for added durability.

Begin by identifying the direction of the main weave of your canvas (parallel lines indicate this). Start mending in this direction, using a single strand of thread (not double) to rebuild the weave and close the edges of the hole. Do n't pull too tight to avoid pinching the fabric. Once the weave edges of the canvas are joined point by point, you can repeat the same process on the perpendicular side.

Secure the thread with a few stop knots , and you're done.

Maintenance of structures

Clean the frame of your parasol daily

General precautions: Never use abrasive products or brushes to scrub the structures. Clean immediately after contact with corrosive products or materials, such as bird droppings, chemicals, etc.

To clean your parasol, first rinse the surface, then clean with: a clean cloth, lukewarm water, and mild soap. Rinse again and let it air dry.

For stubborn stains: adapt the cleaner according to the finish.
• For powder-coated structures (anthracite grey or wood effect), use a specialized powder coating cleaner.
• For anodized aluminum structures (light grey), use a specific cleaner for anodized aluminum.

Maintenance in areas exposed to salt air (seaside):
• Rinse all exposed parts with clean water every 15 days.
• Dry the parts thoroughly before reassembling them.

Ensuring your Belveo parasol withstands the wind

Maintenance during assembly and after winter storage:
• Check that the screws are tight.
• Inspect the entire structure and the canvas.
• Carry out an initial opening in calm weather for a complete and stress-free check.

Regular checks during the season: after a gust of wind or every five openings.
• Check that the main screws and connector bolts are tight.
• Visually inspect the condition of the canvas.

If you notice any unusual noise or movement:
• Identify the part in question.
• Disassemble it to check its condition.
• Clean it with a non-abrasive degreaser.
• Grease the mechanical parts.
• Reassemble the part and ensure that it is working properly.

Handle carefully

Take your time when opening or closing your parasol. Make sure to keep your hands away from the folding mechanisms to avoid any risk of pinching or snagging.

Ensure stability

Always place your parasol on a flat, stable surface to ensure its stability. A poorly positioned parasol could tip over and cause accidents.

Monitor the overall condition

Inspect your parasol regularly to ensure it is in good condition. If you have any doubt, refrain from using it.

Protecting children

Do not allow children to handle or play with the parasol. It is also crucial to prevent them from hanging from the frame, as this could lead to injury or damage to the product.

Heat sources

Keep your parasol away from outdoor radiators, barbecues, and open flames to avoid any risk of fire.

Weather conditions

Your parasol is not designed to withstand conditions such as strong winds, torrential rain, or snow. In these situations, dismantle it and store it in a sheltered place to prevent damage.

Winterizing your parasol

Is the season ending?

 Winterizing your parasol

Prepare your parasol
for wintering

Canvas storage :
• Remove the parasol canopy.
• Store it in a dry, heated room to avoid moisture.

Structure storage :
• Ideally, keep the structure indoors.
• If outdoor storage is required, protect the structure with its dedicated cover.

For a parasol that looks like new in the spring:
• Check the tightness of the screws: binding screws, connector screws, mounting screws, crank housing screws, ribs and counter-ribs.
• Maintain the mechanisms: disassemble and grease the moving parts and internal mechanisms. Caution: avoid any contact between the grease and the fabric.
• Clean the structure: use clean water, mild soap, and a non-abrasive cloth. Air dry.
• Storage precautions: Store in a dry, sheltered place. Avoid contact with any heat source. Do not cover the structure except with a dedicated cover.
• Clean and grease before storing: always wash and dry the structure before storing it. Grease wear parts to prevent friction.

When do I need to close my Belveo parasol?

It is necessary to close your Belveo parasol:

1. When the base becomes unstable under the action of the wind on the parasol.
2. When the parasol canopy remains mostly in a torch -like position above the ribs.
3. In all cases, do not use the Belveo parasol without adequate weighting (slabs with sufficient weight or ground anchoring) and when the meteorological services announce locally winds exceeding 80km/h in the closed position, and 60 km/h in the open position.
