Maintaining your pergola

To ensure your Belveo pergola remains in impeccable condition over the years, here are a few tips.

Routine cleaning

Rinse it regularly with fresh water and use a soft cloth and a mild soap such as black soap for routine maintenance. Caution: do not use corrosive products or brushes for cleaning , as these may damage the paint on your pergola.

PROTECTIVE VARNISH

If the paint and undercoat are deeply scratched, apply a water-repellent varnish (clear or the color of your product, ideally two-component) to prevent water/air penetration and rust formation .

CANVAS CARE

At winter time or once a year, take down your pergola canopy and lay it on the ground. Start by brushing it with soapy water and a stiff brush , then rinse with a hose (or a pressure washer, keeping a safe distance) - let it air dry and store your canopy in a dry, well-ventilated place.

INTERVIEW
OF THE STRUCTURE

Check that your gutters are clean , especially in autumn when leaves accumulate! More generally, avoid positioning your pergola under a tree . If the downspouts are blocked, remove the bottom post plates and clean the inside to ensure proper drainage. Also check the condition of the rope at the top pulleys, as well as the plastic locking pins for the slats, which should all be in the locked position.

CLAMP MAINTENANCE

Once a year, or after strong winds, frost, or snowfall, check that the slats are secure and that the screws connecting the posts and beams are tight. Lubricate all moving parts , including the hydraulic cylinder (using oil rather than grease) and the crank mechanism if it has been exposed to water (e.g., from overflowing gutters). Finally, check that your bioclimatic pergola is securely anchored to the ground.
